History of CHRISTUS Dubuis
The year was 1866, Catholic Bishop Claude Marie Dubuis had returned to his
native France seeking religious nurses willing to travel with him to Texas. He
issued a call: "Our Lord Jesus Christ, suffering in the persons of a multitude
of sick and infirm of every kind, seeks relief at your hands." In Lyons, Bishop
Dubuis found three volunteers for his mission: Sister Blandine, Sister Ange and
Sister Joseph. Together, the Sisters established a new branch of the Incarnate
Word and embarked upon a mission of ministering to the sick.
